[Jason slips out during the breakfast with Auger, leading the cat-man just far enough away to be hidden, but not far enough away to be lost forever in the mansion abyss. They are probably lingering secretively behind some stone or shrubs.] Okay, Pussycat. [You thought you were gonna escape that teasing. WRONG.]
Game plan. [Jason's voice lowers a bit, and he hovers as close as he can to Auger without invading personal space.] We need to come up with a way to bait the General out.
The hardest part will be how.

No kidding. [ he keeps an ear pointed to the outside, listening in case anyone comes their way. ] We don't have much to work with yet, though. Alois's death yesterday probably wasn't his work.
[ although he still suspects foul play. ]
You have any bright ideas?

[Jason crosses his arms, then leans a shoulder against a wall. His eyes flick to Auger's ear, watchful of it and the tail, two things he knows will give a good signal of anything happening.] We need to figure out what would cause the General to slip up. That'll be the hardest part.
One idea is getting someone to pretend to be a Rainsford or a Fox, say it out loud. We'll have to watch their backs, though, watch them as much as possible. The problem is: no one is going to trust us to do that.
The next problem is finding someone who will go along with it who is capable. If this is our plan, our next vote should be to find someone who is innocent who we think will go along with it.
The other idea is to use Ivan. Thoughts?

He could torture information out of someone - that's his first idea - but if they squealed afterwards, it could put him in hot water. And he's not sure Jason would go along with that plan. ]
I don't think Ivan's gonna work with us. She's broken. I've seen it before. [ he taps an index finger against his skull - broken on the inside, that is. ] She's too scared of that General - she thinks it's her destiny to do this and everything.
[ he had high hopes for her before, but now he's not so sure. ]
If you ask me, the second plan's the best one. If we find someone innocent, we can make them work with us. If we find someone who's not... Well, we can get them some punishment. [ a beat. ] Unless you want to force someone to pretend to be a Rainsford, that is. If you'd help me out, I could be really persuasive.

Plan B maybe.
I think we should find someone who will go along with us first, but we'll still need your persuasion. [A shrug.] I think we should try Royce. He's playing the game like it should be played. He doesn't have any allegiances to anyone here, no sympathy. He's the only one who voted in the last round. He's also capable of protecting himself if he needs to, I think. His paranoia could help us watch for the General.
We should vote to see if he's innocent unless you can think of someone else who would go along with outing themselves as a fake Rainsford. [A pause.] Do you think the General would come out if someone outed themselves as the General? Might be an ego thing.

Mm, Royce isn't a bad choice. He seems less stupid than some of the other people around here. [ as for the general... ] If the General's not an idiot, he wouldn't do that. Having someone else out themselves as the General would be the best thing he could hope for. It'd take the pressure off of him.
[ and it would be hard to find someone that would willingly paint a target on their back. ]
On the other hand, if someone announced themselves as the Rainsford and they weren't... The real one might come forward, since the fake one would just get somebody killed. If the real Rainsford's a nice guy, anyway.
no subject
Is he joking? Maybe.] It would depend on who the Rainsford is. If they're stupid, yeah, they'll probably out themselves trying to keep the fake one from being harmed. If they're smart, though, they'll keep their mouth shut. Honestly, even if they're the hero type, they may choose to save the majority rather than a single person. They may keep quiet anyway.
It's up to you. I was just tossing out ideas. Can you think of any other way to lure the General out? Fake Rainsford for sure, since they can protect.
We should also consider this being used against us, too. What if there's another killer not related to the General? Like what happened with the brat in the well. What if there's a fake General?
But we've gotta do something, otherwise more people will die, and fast. We'll have a higher probability of dying, too.
no subject
That would be pretty hard, just the two of us. I'm only trained for one-on-one combat.
[ that's not a complete lie. ]
And I'm sure there's more than one killer, too. That Alois kid was a brat, but he wasn't that stupid, as far as I could tell. [ he sort of reminded Auger of himself, in a funny way. He rests one hand on his hip, probing his brain for some answers. ] The way I see it, there's not much we can do until we identify one more person. The only way any of this will move is if we start figuring out who's who. The question is if we wanna wait until nighttime to start checking people. We're Foxes, but there's more than one way to make people talk.
[ if he were on his own, he'd already be picking someone out to torture, but he has to contend with Jason knowing his identity here, too - can't do anything too suspect, or he could put himself in danger. ]
The General's never just gonna announce himself as the General. We need to bait him out. If we paint someone as the Rainsford, or a Fox, and control the number of people that have that information, then there'll be a pretty good chance the killer is in that group if the fake dies. [ beat ] Well, that plan's dependent on somebody dying, though.

And what if it turns into a witch hunt? They confess under torture, but aren't guilty? Shit.] We're not looking for an announcement. We're looking for slip ups. We're looking for movement, for action. So we decide to bait the General. All right.
Now who is our guinea pig? Do you want to try Royce, or do you want to try someone else? Who are we voting for the next time essentially?
