[ wow he actually got his name right. dimitri's door is ajar so that's fine, though he's almost at a loss at how to respond. ]

...Hello, Jason.

[ at a general glance the inside of his room looks suitably medieval fantasy. ]

Getting used to the facilities?

[ sometimes your life is just political fantasy warfare. he politely does not point out that he also grew up in a city even though jason assumes he is a peasant bumpkin or some such. ]

It is, yes. But I was made more familiar with my time at camp. It had many... as you might call them, 'modern' amenities, like refrigerators.

[ refrigerators specifically. anyway, now that he's here, the full rundown of casa de dimitri:

It's a very quiet, clean room with a warm fireplace and some cozy fur rugs, stone walls, and polished wooden flooring. Outside the (fake) windows it looks like it's snowing, and it's cold nearer to the edges of the room. The entire space is too large for how little furniture is in it, and there's practically no decorations besides a Blue Lions pennant and a display of swords and spears, which are fake and attached firmly to the wall. There are a number of small portraits on the mantle of family, friends, and house members, though several are damaged, burnt, or blurry.

There's a large bed, dresser, and assorted other wooden furniture, well-constructed but spartan in design. Most of the cabinets are empty, and the contents of the dresser are mostly formal and black. The bed is very soft and piled with furs and royal blue blankets, but otherwise the space feels a little impersonal and empty. ]

This room looks similar to my chambers at home, though.

[ jason: i know another stinky medieval rat man who belongs here

he laughs, brief and sharp with bitterness. ]

Spoiled, yes.

[ he hates camp. he wishes he robbed it of all its refrigerators. ]

I wonder if this place is trying to make us comfortable, too.

[ no :) sometimes you are 90% anger. ]

Perhaps.

[ he just reaches over and pushes one of the photo frames down on its face, apparently not a fan. ]

Though from what I've heard, these rooms do not always reflect what we want.

[ they can be 180% anger together ]

There's parts of it that suit my tastes, and others that don't.

[ sometimes the things that reflect yourself aren't so palatable. ]

...How does one begin to judge a soul?

[ what was the criterion there? ]

[ was this a the good place game ]

...The qualifications still sound rather vague to me.

[ he'd like to know what sends someone to hell, even if he has his own expectations. ]

I think when we are all placed in a terrible situation, even good people tend to be forced into doing awful things.

[ i don't think he knows who satan is. but his expression goes thoughtful all the same. ]

No. [ he knows that ashe was a thief before he became a noble's son—could he think poorly of him when his only sin was making sure his siblings didn't go to bed hungry? ] I do not think it so much as a crime as a tragedy when people are forced to such ends. A child, stealing to survive. A parent, striking down someone who means their family harm. It is not the same as someone who thieves from the poor, or a brigand that kills for opportunity.

[ it gets more complicated than that, though. killing one to save many. a kind person forced to be cruel for some greater good. he suddenly looks tired, older than he really is. ]

I do not believe in justice and rightness in places like this. In the end, it is just a matter of drawing lines. Atrocities that we can abide by, and ones we cannot. And I am not sure how any judge on any island could measure such a thing.

[ a red hood, huh? jason's words leave him with mixed feelings, a tiny furrow in his brow. ]

...I do not know. I've seen war declared for the 'right' reasons. So many people claim to act with righteousness. But...

[ it's complicated. he only knows what he can forgive, and what he believes must be punished. ]

This place has no right to decide anything. I do not intend to behave.

[ he is going to be a hooligan until someone takes him out. ]

[ jason you are the worst role model in the universe. thanks! ]

There's bound to be someone who knows more than we do. Whether it's previous participants, or the forces running this entire hotel...

[ dimitri isn't someone who doubts and questions things as well as others, so he's grateful to hear that someone like jason is on the case. ]

I do not know that I can be of much help to you, but I would gladly offer what I can.

My sincere efforts are all I can promise. It's just, frankly, this sort of situation isn't my forte. I'm afraid I'm not much use outside of a battlefield.

[ and murder games require a whole separate set of skills. still, for someone who is only very good at killing things, he straightens up and looks curious. he doesn't want to trouble him, but also... room... ]
